in the past few months, this album has become a real staple for me. myles first introduced me to it last summer, and i rediscovered it at the end of this summer. i am really glad i did.

matt corby keeps it so fresh, beautifully incorporating both funky upbeat jams with soft, heartfelt tunes throughout this album. he has such a specific sound that i cannot justly explain… the best i can say is that it carries this almost electric r&b feel, with syncopated rhythms, interesting harmonies, and unique melody lines. it’s just incredible.

although it’s hard to decide, the title track “rainbow valley” (which is the last song on the album) just might be my favourite. it holds this super warm, homey, lovely feeling. the drums and the bass are reallyyyyy in the pocket and nothing in that moment of listening could feel better.

so what are you waiting for! check it out man!!
