if we don’t already know each other, it’s nice to meet ya!

three years ago, my little seventeen-year-old self moved to the big city of Toronto to study and train at the Randolph College for the Performing Arts. i graduated in 2019, and spent the year amidst the pandemic fumbling around the city, trying to figure out where to plant my feet on the ground! that’s when skylight was born.

at the beginning of 2021, my time in the city came to a close, and i decided to move back home with my family. i wanted to give myself some space to reflect on where life had taken me since i last lived at home, and figure out where i wanted to land next. i wound up going back to school, being the first person to obtain a Certificate in the Studies Arts and Culture program at Brock University, and spent the year diving into my learning and expanding my own teaching practice, taking a position at a local dance studio.

in the summer of 2022, after graduating (for the second time), i had some really incredible opportunities to engage in artist residencies with local artists and arts organizations to develop and present my own creative work - something i had never imagined myself doing yet! these projects really gave me the confidence as an artist to make things happen for myself.

at the end of last year, i decided to pursue a life’s dream of mine, and travelled europe for two months, with no intention but to know myself better, explore the world outside of me, and get inspired. while i was out there, i was lucky enough to have gotten to perform in a show in Berlin that a mentor of mine presented… my world suddenly bursted open.

as i maneuver my way through my twenties, things seem to slowly fall into place. i remember the early years being super tumultuous and dizzying.
this website started as a place for me to ground my overwhelming feelings of the world around me, and provided a unique sense of purpose in what i create.

as i grow, it grows with me.
i’m grateful for the space it gives me to express myself in whatever way i really feel like.

if you’re reading this, thanks so much for diving in to my little online world. i think life provides us some really cool methods of sharing our experiences to remind us of our shared humanity, and i am so grateful to have this website as a place of release.
