carole king - tapestry
carole is absolutely magical… i hope you know that already.
most of the world knows how incredible she is as a lyricist and song-writer, and she really is. but something that bugs me is the comment that comes with it, “even though she’s not that great of a singer…”. i’m sorry world! but i disagree!
i’m not saying that there are not plenty of singers out there with plenty more technique than carole… i know that for a fact there are. but is technique all that makes up a good singer? i don’t think so…
for example, if you listen to louis armstrong, he has awful singing technique… like really bad. but he has soul behind everything he does, and that’s why he’s so iconic. i’m one to say that that quality matters significantly more than technique, and i believe the same to be true about carole.
she puts so much heart behind every detail of her music, and it translates just as much in how she sings it… you can feel it so deep, and to me, that makes her an incredible singer (and artist as a whole, of course).
anyway, just had to say my piece…
this album is really beautiful, it’s a real classic go-to album for me. i hope you enjoy it just as much!
