The Body
and The Brain
is a contemporary dance anthology created by Vik Mudge (he/they) and Skye Rogers (she/her).
In three parts, the dancers explore the notions of gender through three lenses; unpacking their questions of self-discovery, societal expectations, and the dichotomy of masculinity and femininity.
In tandem with their curiosity of shadow work, silhouette, and non-traditional partner-work, Vik and Skye seek to find the non-binary elements of existence which belong in all of us.
About the Show
ONE
Choreographed by Skye Rogers, what is woman? explores her experience wrestling with the (often degrading) traditional gender roles & expectations placed on women. It is her process of defining & undefining & redefining & undefining again what her understanding of femininity is.

TWO
Choreographed by Vik Mudge, Searching for Nothing is about the journey of self-discovery and self-awareness. What is it like to truly see yourself for the first time? Through shadows, lighting and creative movement, Vik aims to answer this question and discover more about himself.
Searching for Nothing
THREE
Choreographed together, The Body and The Brain is a collaborative exploration of the dichotomy between masculinity and femininity. It is the artists’ effort to break down and break through the frames in which they are demanded to exist, and satisfy their curiosity of what is possible in the space between.
